Will 2021 be the year you invest in yourself?

The holidays are just around the corner and I don’t know about you, but I always feel guilty spending money on my self during this time of year. It’s ultra unfortunate since my birthday is just a few weeks before Christmas and I’m one of those people who’s OBSESSED with their birthday. Then the new year starts and we all start criticizing our bodies and pushing ourselves to go to the gym and eat kale smoothies (nothing against kale but it’s not for me). Let’s be real, in a few months or weeks, gyms clear out, we go back to our old habits and the cycle continues. So this year, let’s break it.

Instead of spending months in a self loathing, body shaming, low self esteem cycle, why not teach yourself self acceptance and love? Now I’m not saying don’t do what you and your doctor feel is best for your health ‘cuz self care comes in MANY forms, but what I’m saying is, maybe don’t put yourself down if you miss a gym day. Don’t say, “I can’t do a boudoir shoot ‘til I weight XXXlbs”. “I can’t treat myself ‘til I fit into these pants.” Be a mutineer. Opt out of feeling bad about yourself and love yourself for all of the wonderful things you have to offer at this, and any size.

I think for so many people we feel this pressure to be a “perfect” (whatever that means anyway) version of ourselves before we are worthy of investing in ourselves. And yeah, of course I want to photograph you and show you just how beautiful I KNOW you are but that’s not the most important thing to me. I want YOU to learn how valuable and worthy you are. Because, YOU ARE WORTHY.

So, will 2021 be the year you are dedicated to investing in yourself?
