Aunt Flo crashed my Boudoir Shoot

It’s a concern I’ve been hearing more and more and I wanted to address the bloody elephant in the room.

So your boudoir shoot is approaching and your period is threatening to crash the party, what do you do?

First, don’t worry. It happens all the time and as much as it’s less than ideal it’s totally not going to ruin things. Sort of like having to eat ice cream with a fork. LOL

Should I just reschedule?

That’s absolutely not necessary. We’ve shot plenty of shoots while our clients are menstruating and I myself have been photographed many times while surfing the crimson wave (“Clueless” anyone”?). If you really don’t feel like you can make it through, you can reschedule your shoot. Please keep in mind there is a rescheduling fee and we are often booked months in advance so can’t guarantee availability.

Do I have to wear a tampon?

Yes, or a menstrual cup. Most boudoir wardrobe won’t work with a pad and we can’t allow free bleeding in the studio for sanitary reasons.

What if I get cramps?

We will take it super easy. Let us know you need a break and you’ve got it! We also keep emergency supplies at the studio in case you need ibuprofen, a heating pad break or any other supplies, and obviously CHOCOLATE.

Ok, so what should I do to prepare?

As annoying as it probably is to hear, drink water, take ibuprofen, get lots of rest and relax in the days leading up to your shoot. Eat a light breakfast before you arrive and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Although it seems like a total buzz kill, it doesn’t have to ruin a super fun, empowering and (if you want it to be) sexy boudoir photoshoot!
